National Nutrition Week 2018 “Too much sugar is bad for health, No ants in my camp.”
The dangers of excess consumption of added sugar and its link to childhood obesity is the focus of National Nutrition Week 2018. The Grenada Food and Nutrition Council spearheads activities from Monday June 18th to Friday June 22nd geared at public awareness and sensitization. An address by Education Minister, Hon. Emmaline Pierre will declare the week open on Monday June 18th.
Here is the list of activities:
Monday June 18th – Community walk about and sensitization – Gouyave at 2 pm.
Tuesday June 19th – Public Education Walk by students of Bonair Gov’t School, Victoria at 1 pm
Wednesday June 20th – March against added sugar & Dancercise – Crochu Gov’t School at 1 pm
Wednesday June 20th – Grand Dancercise with instructor Anthony Modeste, Old Trafford at 5 pm
Thursday June 21st – Presentation by Students of St. George’s Anglican School & information sharing, Esplanade Mall, 12 pm
Friday June 22nd – “No Sugar Fast” Public is challenged to avoid all foods and drinks with added sugar.
Nutrition Week is held under the theme “Too much sugar is bad for health; No ants in my camp.”
